Wood Cuckoo
Wood Cuckoo

Have You Seen My English Land?
HAVE YOU SEEN MY ENGLISH LAND
Have you seen my English land
The summer clouds of Sunderland
The Tarmar valley and the plains
The fields of Autumn's tender rains
The moors of Stafford and the range
Of Pennine's green and mosses strange
The robins red and magpie's tail
The cuckoos ringing up from dale
The spring time brooks and roses red
The daisies and the blue-bell's bed
Oh Have you seen my English Land
The Winter's chill at Sunderland?
Or have you heard my English Land
The folklores of the Eastern land
The little babes alone in Wood
When hand in hand in silence stood
Or Hareward born in Lincolnshire
The happy Cole in red attire
The myth and tale of Robin Hood
In Barnysdale and Yangyl Wood
Or tales of little Lucy Gray
Sung by Wordsworth in his day
Oh have you heard my English Land
The Golden Tales of Ancient Land?
By Jay, "The Silver Bells"
Jay, do you realize the amount of Homework you have given me, to look up all these places in my ancestral home?
One referent I know, "Happy Cole in red attire" I have a book of my mother's ancestry from the time of her birth in 1927 all the way to "Old King Cole" Along with about a million others, I expect. This is a delightful poem! Congratulations!
