Should I lengthen or shorten the pendulum on my clock to slow it down?
I have an old (approx 90 years old) mantle/wall clock. It was a wedding gift from my grandfather to my grandmother. It's an 8 day clock, but needs to be wound twice a week. My step father told me which way to turn the pendulum screw, but he passed way several years ago so I can't ask him.
If it helps the make is "SESSIONS"
A related question is, why would it speed up or slow down depending on the temp. and humidity? warm and humid vs. cool and dry.
increase its length, in that way the pendulum will have to travel more distance and the clock will slow down
