Rolling Ball

What has more energy... A ball rolling on the floor at 5.6m/s or an identical ball placed 1.5 m above the floo?

I think it would be the ball rolling on the floor.. i got about 15J for this ball.

Can someone just do the problem and compare what they got? I just want to check and make sure I did it right.

A rolling ball has both translational and rotational kinetic energy

= 1/2*m*v^2 + 1/2*I*ω^2 = 1/2*m*v^2 + 1/2*(2/5*m*r^2)*v^2/r^2 = 1/2*m*(v^2 + 2/5*v^2) =

= 1.4/2*m*v^2 = 0.7*m*v^2

the potential energy = m*g*h

Now comparing these K/m = 0.7*5.6^2 = 21.95

and U/m = 9.8*1.5 = 14.7

So the rolling ball has a greater energy
