Where is the big key in "Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker"?

I'm at the stage with Makar in the Earth (?) Temple, and I cannot find the big key. I've even gotten to the door that needs the big key. I've looked at walkthroughs but none of them are helpful enough....

If I remember correctly, you need to free makar, then go up a room in the beggining of the dungeon(there are blue bubbles in this room). Then, you activate a switch that will help you get to the big key room, then you go up the main room, beat 1 or 2 darknuts so ou can grab the big key.

Sorry if it sound a little unclear: It been quite a while since I've played Wind Waker.
